Conversions

I'm really trying to master converting colour photos to black-and-white in Photoshop. I only have Elements, so I'm a bit limited, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I find it hard to get the right contrast without blowing the whites. And when I try to burn it back, it looks obvious since I'm not that great at it yet. ;) Here are a couple of quick recent conversions:
